Great view, but that's about where the positives end.
We were initially told only the lounge was available because we didn't have a reservation (totally understandable), despite an open table sitting empty (perplexing). I made a reservation on OpenTable while standing there, and it felt like that annoyed the staff more than anything.
The service was indifferent from start to finish. The staff seemed disengaged, and there was no visible management at any time overseeing the guest experience. Happy hour pricing was inconsistent, I was overcharged on a Cava (first at the bar, then the table), gratuity was added to our party of four even though the menu states it's for parties of six or more, and the bill still had errors that needed correcting. It's not about the money—it's about the attitude and lack of attention to detail.
The food was good but overpriced, which is expected in the Caribbean. We had the Classico Paella (very small for the price), pizza, olive and bean platter, and chicken kebabs. No complaints about the taste.
I've spent over 25 years in the hospitality industry and always tip at least 20%, even with poor service. What bothered me wasn't the cost—it was the feeling that the staff simply didn't care. For a restaurant claiming it's in its "slow season," the bigger issue may be the lack of repeat customers.
Great location, decent food, poor service, and absent management. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return. Kids who are worried about their tip are making foolish guest experiences, not realizing it's hurting the owners bottom line and life of the restaurant. Notice not 1 reply from management on their Google reviews, good or bad reviews. Place doesn't care, the rest of St Thomas pays attention and responds based on my searches. Owner, get better management if you want to make money. It's not slow season....you have issues. Trying to help.
